Unlike many small rural towns, Dows's main street is active and viable, providing a variety of services including a health clinic, pharmacy and sundries, TV and video sales and repair, floral and gifts, antiques, restaurants, grocery, clothing store, full-service gas station, and lounge. There is a well-stocked public library with state of the art high speed Internet available to the public. Recreation includes a public golf course, public swimming pool, and many picnic parks, including the city park with its permanent shelter large enough for entertainment events. Camping facilities suitable for RV's are located near the swimming pool.
