If you are seeking Central Iowa Tourism, you need look no further than Dows, Iowa, where the past meets the future.  Dows is home to three buildings listed on the National Historic Register, one of which, the restored Rock Island Depot, houses an Iowa Welcome Center. Another of the three is the Quasdorf Blacksmith Museum, and the third is the Dows Mercantile or Fillmore Building.

Unlike many small rural towns, Dows's main street is active and viable, providing a variety of services including a health clinic, pharmacy and sundries, TV and video sales and repair, floral and gifts, antiques, restaurants, grocery, clothing store, full-service gas station, and lounge. There is a well-stocked public library with state of the art high speed Internet available to the public.  Recreation includes a public golf course, public swimming pool, and many picnic parks, including the city park with its permanent shelter large enough for entertainment events.  Camping facilities suitable for RV's are located near the swimming pool.

Dows--a great place to visit; a better place to live. (See links to other Dows associated websites on the Helpful Links page.)

On the right are John and Catherine Meyers getting into the spirit of Dows Corn Days.  Mr. and Mrs. Meyers are the owners of the Drummer Boy Inn, a Victorian Bed and Breakfast in Dows.  Reservations can be made by calling (515) 852-4652 or (515) 571-9287.
